At Koperasi Angkatan Tentera Malaysia Berhad (“KT”), we value your privacy and strive to protect your personal information in compliance with the laws of Malaysia.
Pursuant thereto, this Privacy Notice outlines how KT collects, uses, maintains and discloses your personal data in respect of commercial transactions and how KT safeguards the personal data.
“Personal Data” refers to any information which relates directly or indirectly to you and/or your transactions with us. This information includes your name, address, occupation, contact details, the details of your account(s), the type of products and/or services subscribed to and such other necessary information regarding yourself and your transaction(s) with us. For the avoidance of doubt, please note that this Privacy Notice is applicable only if you are an individual.
“Sensitive Personal Data” refers to information about health or physical or mental condition of an individual, his political opinions, religious beliefs or other beliefs of a similar nature, the commission or alleged commission by him of any offense or any other personal data as the Minister may be determined by order published in the Gazette.
When you request for information, sign up for and/or use our products and services, you may be required to provide KT with your personal data. By providing us your personal data, you provided your consent to KT to use it in accordance with this Privacy Notice. Your personal data may have also been provided to KT by a third party (for example your spouse, an organisation that you work at, a company in which you are a director, officer or shareholder, or a company in which you are a director, an officer or a shareholder, or a partnership in which you are a partner) for the products or services that these third parties have sought from KT.
You have the option, at any time, not to provide your personal data or withdraw your consent to KT in processing your personal data. However, failure to provide such personal data or withdrawing your consent to process your personal data may result in KT being unable to provide you with effective and continuous products and services.
In this context, the terms “you” or “your” in this Privacy Notice will also be used for any individuals whose personal data has been provided to KT and/ or was obtained through methods such as those described in Item 3 of this Privacy Notice.
For us to complete our transactions with you, to deal with your inquiries, open and operate an account/facility for you, generally provide you with our products and services, and to carry out other purposes required to operate and maintain our business with you, we need to collect and process personal information about you, including information relating to your identity, address, other contact details, age, occupation, marital status, financial information such as your income, or income tax particulars your identity card or passport, images and biometrics to establish your identity and background, place of birth, credit history and your transaction history, specimen signatures, as well as, digital or electronic signatures as defined under the applicable laws and regulations and other electronic data or information relating to you such as IP addresses, cookies, activity logs, online identifiers and location data through your usage of our products and services or as part of their delivery to you.
We may collect your sensitive personal data (including, data relating to your physical or mental health, the commission or alleged commission of offences etc.) if you apply for certain products such as takaful / insurance which require you to disclose such sensitive personal data to us. We will only use your sensitive personal data to provide the service(s) you signed up for. If we collect, use, maintain or disclose your sensitive personal data, we will ask for your explicit consent.
The personal data we collect can be categorized as either obligatory or voluntary. Obligatory personal data are those required to provide you with our products and services. If you do not provide us with obligatory personal data, we would not be able to provide you with our products and services. Voluntary personal data are those that are not mandatory in order for us to provide you with our products and services. If you do not provide such personal data, you can still sign up for our products and services.
Obligatory personal data or voluntary personal data vary according to each of the products and services we offer.
We obtain your personal data in various ways, such as:

when you sign up for or use one of the many products and/or services we provide or when you register an account at any KT websites; |
| (ii) |
when you contact KT through various methods such as application forms, emails and letters, telephone calls and conversations you have with our staff in a branch. If you contact us or we contact you using telephone, we may monitor or record the phone call for quality assurance, training and security purposes; and/or |
| (iii) |
from our analysis of your transactions (e.g. payment history, loan, or deposit balances, credit or debit card purchases); |
| (iv) |
we may also obtain your personal data when you participate in customer surveys or when you sign up for any of our competitions, campaigns or promotions; |
| (v) |
when we obtain any data and information from third parties (e.g. credit reference agencies, regulatory and enforcement agencies, employers, joint account holders, guarantors, legal representatives, spouses, parents, guardians, dependents and/or companies/partnership that you hold directorships, shareholdings or partnership in); |
| (vi) |
from the Malaysia Department of Insolvency, other relevant governmental authorities and/or law enforcement agencies to ascertain inter alia your current and past financial standing; |
| (vii) |
information received from insurance claims or other documents; |
| (viii) |
when you enter into any commercial transactions with KT including but not limited to you providing goods and/or services or your professional services; |
| (ix) |
from video recordings from close circuit security surveillance cameras (CCTV) and audio recordings; |
| (x) |
from publicly available sources; and/or |
| (xi) |
from KT’s website and social media. |
We may process your personal data for the following reasons:
| (i) |
to assess your application for any of our products and services; |
| (ii) |
to notify you about benefits and changes to the features of products and services; |
| (iii) |
to manage and maintain your account; |
| (iv) |
to assess your financial needs and to continue performing the contracted obligation entered into between KT and you; |
| (v) |
to respond to your inquiries and complaints and to resolve disputes; |
| (vi) |
for market surveys and trend analysis to improve our products and services; |
| (vii) |
to market and to provide you with information on our and selected third parties’ products, services, offers and/or contests which may be of interest to you (in respect of which we may or may not be remunerated) and in this respect, to contact you via short message service (“SMS”), phone or mobile device, email, fax, mail, websites or browsers, social media or messaging, in person and/or any other appropriate communication channels; |

to administer your participation in any of our contests, campaign or promotions; |

such other purposes as set out in the terms and conditions of our products and, if applicable, campaign and/or contest terms and conditions; |

to transfer or assign our rights, interests and obligations under any of your agreements with us; |

to protect or enforce our rights to recover any debt owing to us; |

to enforce and/or defend any of our rights; |

for the prevention and detection of financial crime (including but not limited to money laundering and fraud prevention, detection and prosecution); |

In addition, we may also use your personal data to meet any regulatory requirements and for any other reason related to the provision of the services you need.
As a part of providing you with our products and services and the management and/or operation of the same and for the purposes as set out in this Privacy Notice in relation to our use of your personal information, you have consented and authorised us to disclose information about you and/or your accounts and/or facilities with us to:

any officer, employee, agent or director, subsidiaries, associate companies and branch offices; |

relevant third parties such as professional advisers or their agents, lawyers, auditors, strategic business partners and alliances, service providers, insurers/Takaful operator or insurance/Takaful brokers, outsourced agents, merchants, vendors and/or debt collectors whom are under legal obligation to the confidentiality of your information; |

companies and/or organisations that assist us in processing and/or otherwise fulfilling transactions that you have requested; |
| (iv) |
companies and/or organisations that assist us in providing value added services that you have requested; |
| (v) |
companies and/or organisations that provide services to us in delivering or communicating information about our products and services to you; |

any trustees, beneficiaries, administrators or executors; |
| (vii) |
any third party as a result of any restructuring of facilities granted to you or the sale of debts or transferee of KT’s rights, provided that any recipient uses your information for the same purposes as it was originally supplied to us and/or used by us; |

any guarantors or security providers for the facility(ies) granted by us to you; |
| (ix) |
enforcement, regulatory, and governmental agencies as permitted or required by law, allowed by any court and/or tribunal order or to fulfill obligations to regulatory authorities; |

any actual or potential participants or assignee, novatee and/or obligation under any transaction between you and KT (or any agents or professional advisers); |
| (xi) |
Party authorized by you. (e.g lawyers, financial advisers or auditors); |
| (xii) |
credit bureaus or credit reporting agencies and fraud prevention agencies; |
| (xiii) |
lawyers, financial advisers or auditors; and/or |
| (xiv) |
any parties who gives any security under your Facility. |

enforcement, regulatory, and governmental agencies as permitted or required by law, allowed by any court and/or tribunal order or to fulfill obligations to regulatory authorities; |
You may receive marketing information from us or other entities about products and services that may be of interest to you. If you intend not to receive the marketing information, please inform us to withdraw your consent and we will stop processing and share your personal data with other entities for the purpose of sending marketing information to you.
You have the option to withdraw your consent from receiving material/information about marketing or promotion. You may contact us by using the contact information provided below. Please note that as soon as we receive confirmation that you wish to withdraw the consent for marketing or promotional material/information, it may take up to fourteen (14) working days before the withdrawal of consent to appear in our system. Therefore, you may still receive material/information about marketing or promotion during this period.
Please note that even if you choose not to receive marketing or promotional materials, KT may still contact you for other purposes relating to the account, facilities or services that you hold with KT. If you have submitted the personal data of the third party to KT, please ensure that you have obtained the permission from the relevant third party for processing and disclosure of his/her personal data and this Privacy Notice has been sent in advance to the attention of such third party.
KT may transfer your personal data outside of Malaysia if any of the KT’s service providers are located in countries outside of Malaysia. Such transfers for the purpose are necessary to perform or conclude KT’s services to you, to perform or conclude the KT’’s contract(s) with the relevant third parties, and for legal proceedings or obtaining legal advice.
Should the operational need arise where your personal data is to be processed, used, transferred to, or stored at a location outside of Malaysia, KT will take necessary steps to ensure that your personal data is treated securely and any service providers engaged by KT are contractually bound to not use your personal information for any reasons other than what they are contracted to
provide and is in accordance to this Privacy Notice and the respective jurisdictions’ personal data laws. In these regards, you give your consent to us transfer to your personal data outside of Malaysia.
The security of your personal data is our top priority. KT takes all physical, technical and organization measures needed to ensure the security and confidentiality of your personal data. If we disclose any of your personal data to third-party specified above, they have an obligation to protect the personal data given to them accordingly.
We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected or to comply with legal requirements and regulations as well as our internal requirements
Please note that we may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Please review this Privacy Notice from time to time so that you are always aware of how we handle and protect your personal data.
We are committed to ensure that your personal data that we hold is accurate, complete, not misleading and current. If there are any changes to your personal data or if you believe that your personal data is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or not current, please contact us so we can take steps to update your personal data.
You have the right to access your personal data by contacting us. We may also take steps to verify your identity before fulfilling such request
